 CUSTOM PARASITE PROTECTION

Our clinic recommends a which is a customized medication called Custom Parasite Protection.

Custom Parasite Protection is a prescription medication specifically calculated to your pets size and protection needs. It will prevent parasites that problematic to your pet’s particular environment in a dose specifically calculated to your pet’s weight. Our associated pharmacy, Roadrunner Pharmacy, will compound your pet’s medication into a capsule ship it directly to your house.

Your pet’s prescription will contain either 12, 24 or 36 capsules for an entire year’s protection from internal parasites. A topical, easy to administer spray is included for fleas, ticks, and lice. Each year the strength of protection can be adjusted to reflect the weight of your pet.

The capsules and spray are given monthly to help keep your pet free of common parasites that may adversely affect his or her health. The program will cost you quite a bit less than a combination of Frontline and Heartguard, plus you have the added convenience of everything being shipped to your home.

We recommend having the first shipment delivered to our office, so we can show you how to make your pet swallow the pill and how to apply the fipronil spray.

SPECIAL NOTE CONCERNING HEARTWORM TESTING

It is very important to have yearly heartworm tests performed on your pet. Heartworm prevention manufactures guarantee their product, but the guarantee is will be honored only if the dog is tested for heartworms prior to beginning their product and then tested yearly thereafter.

Yearly testing also provides your pet with a safety net in case a dose of heartworm medication is missed during the year. (Example: vomiting, hiding the tablet under the couch, or owner forgetting to give the medication.
